Three evenings per week.
The School Daycare Educator program covers various topics that focus on pre-school and school-age children’s development. The program also focuses on the creation and organization of activities while keeping the children safe. The program is offered part-time, three evenings per week in a hybrid format (classes are mostly taught on-line, but all exams take place in the Centre. In addition, Day 1 takes place in the Centre and any other days where the teacher requires in-person interaction).
We provide you with hands-on and guided training. Your learning time will be spent in practical workshops, working in teams, and under the leadership of our seasoned teaching staff. Our teaching philosophy is focused on problem solving and learning by doing. We complement our classroom learning with a stage (internship), where you will be placed in a school daycare, which will allow you to apply your skills in a real world setting.
Upon completion of this course you will be qualified to work in-school daycares. This course does not guarantee a position within LBPSB.
Duration of 12 months. Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm - 9:30pm.
Please be aware that there are no classes during March Break, 2 weeks at Christmas Break. We also close for a summer break in July and August. A detailed calendar will be provided to you on your first day.
