Program Objectives

The Construction Business Management program prepares the student to go into the field of construction management. The entrepreneurs manage businesses offering general services or specialized services in the construction sector. They estimate costs relative to the project, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, plan outlines for work sites, carry out projects and manage the quality of the work. They must also hire personnel, negotiate the purchase of material and equipment, and manage the accounts and finance of the company.

Construction Project Manager

Construction project managers, commonly referred to as general contractors, manage a construction company’s activities, personnel and budget. They seek new contracts, prepare tender documents, and interpret construction plans and specifications. In the context of the construction projects entrusted to them, they must verify that buildings comply with the Québec Building Code and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations for their employees. This is a stimulating job for people capable of making quick decisions and who possess good leadership skills. A career as a construction project manager is suitable for organized, autonomous and diplomatic people.
