Forest research management technicians perform a variety of tasks related to the management, planning, conservation, research and rational use of forests. They are called upon to write up plans and reports and conduct resource inventories. They coordinate and oversee silviculture work, plan the construction and maintenance of infrastructures. They participate in research and mapping. It’s a demanding but rewarding job for those who enjoy working outdoors and in a forest environment. A job as a forest research management technician requires an interest in environmental issues, being in excellent physical condition, good observation skills, leadership skills and an aptitude for science and numeracy.
