Metallurgical process technologists perform chemical analyses of materials by diffraction, fluorescence, spectrometry and volumetry, and check the calibration of measuring instruments. They supervise operations and solve technical problems related to metal fabrication or assembly. They may be called upon to participate in training, research, and implementation of work methods or provide technical support. This job takes place in two contrasting environments: the factory and the laboratory. It requires an interest in chemistry and physics and problem-solving skills.
