Geomatics technicians, also referred to as mapping technicians or geodetic technicians, produce legal land-related documents and maps (base or thematic) using precision tools: total stations, GPS systems, electronic levels, etc. They produce layout plans, take measurements in the field and create 3D digital models of areas. They do calculations and interpret aerial photographs and satellite images. It is a job that requires precision suited to those with an aptitude for math and geometry. A job as a geomatics technician involves attention to detail, method and self-reliance.
