Translators, also called interpreters, translate verbal and written messages from Inuttitut to English or from English to Inuttitut. They adapt materials for different dialects in different contexts (medical, legal, educational, social services, etc.). As interpreters, they must translate and rephrase live messages. As part of their duties, they may have to revise translated texts. This is an essential job that requires communication, writing and reading skills. A career as a translator requires versatility, thoroughness, a good ability to synthesize and a talent for languages.
